What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a skin condition that causes blood vessels on the face to enlarge, making the upper cheeks and nose become red or flushed. In some cases, dilated capillaries and small hard spots appear too.
Why do I have Rosacea?
Most common in women over the age of 30, the cause of Rosacea is currently unknown. Some evidence suggests it may be hereditary or triggered by environmental factors, but it isn’t contagious. Several friends of Sarah, our founder, developed it during their first pregnancy.
How to soothe your skin
Take time to get to know your skin’s triggers. Learning what your skin does and doesn’t like can help prevent future flare-ups and reactions.
Changes in temperature can particularly wreak havoc to Rosacea-prone skin. So if it’s very cold consider protecting your face with a large scarf and if it’s very hot, seek some shade.
Really great, my skin doesn’t react to it at all. A completely reliable cream and it tones down my rosacea as well!
Anti-redness skincare products containing natural anti-inflammatories and skin-strengthening omegas will soothe skin and help prevent future flare-ups. Our organic Instant Calm product range is formulated with Rosacea specifically in mind.
Rosehip is a powerful skin strengthener while Chamomile contains azulene, a natural anti-inflammatory, which will cool and calm any flushing during a flare. That’s why we combined them to create one of our most popular face products: the The Anthemis. An ideal addition to your Rosacea skincare routine.
Working to heal the skin from the inside is known to help alleviate many skin conditions. A good probiotic and an omega-rich diet will help to maintain a healthy gut.
Rosacea can also be triggered by stress. Try daily meditation or relaxation to lower stress levels, or consider keeping a diary to help identify patterns in your day to day that may cause flare ups.

What should I avoid?
Caffeine, spicy food, alcohol and sunlight, along with sharp changes in temperature, are the most common triggers for Rosacea.
Based on skincare reactions from patients surveyed by the National Rosacea Society, we recommend avoiding products containing alcohol, witch hazel, fragrance, menthol, peppermint and eucalyptus
Many Rosacea creams contain the irritant Benzoyl Peroxide, which we recommend avoiding as it may cause symptoms to worsen.
Flare ups can often occur due to your home or work environment too. Where possible, avoid hot, dry central heating or direct air conditioning.
